HOW MUCH DOES A WEBSITE COST?
There are many factors that impact the cost of a website, including the size of the website, quality of the design, and special functionality incorporated into the website. A website could cost you anywhere from $500 to hundreds of thousands of dollars.
We don’t think you will find any value in a $500 website, but you don’t have to necessarily spend a lot of money to get a website that meets your needs.
The first thing for you to consider is your budget. What are you hoping to spend on a website? That can help guide you and any prospective web designer to determine what you can get for your budget.
Then you can consider what you need your website to do in order for it to be considered a successful website. As a starting point, here’s what a website will typically need to do for most of our customers:
- enable your target customer to feel confident about your business
- be engaging and relevant for your target customer
- addresses your target customer’s problems and goals
- drive your target customers to take an action (towards buying)
What do you need a website to do in order to do this? There are lots of questions to consider, including: Do you need e-commerce? Do you need any special functionality? Do you need to have photos taken of your team members or products? Do you need videos, such as testimonials or videos that explain things, or anything else? Do you need someone to write the copy (the text on the website)? How many pages will the website have? All of these are factors that can impact the cost of your website.
Our company works on website projects that range from 5,000 to 75,000. When we have an initial conversation with our client, we have discussions so that we can understand our client’s goals and budget. This enables us to present a proposal that aligns with our client’s requirements. We often present our proposals with three cost options: good, better, and best. This enables our clients to understand what possibilities there are for their budget. This also helps us to have a more productive conversation about what is required and how our company can work within a given budget .
